Using real time ship simulators combined with theoretical training to provide ratings with knowledge and experience in steering a vessel.

- Helmsman duties and conning orders
- Basic and advanced steering under various conditions

No. Instructor carries out continuous evaluation and assessment.
Certification:
SAMTRA certificate meeting portion of the SAMSA competence requirements for Steering Certificate as outlined in the SAMSA Code Module 1 for Ordinary Seaman.
