Auxiliary Boiler Familiarisation 
Admission level:
Senior engineering cadets, Junior Engineers, Engineer Officers and Engine room Ratings. This course is of particular benefit to those serving on vessels that are not equipped with auxiliary boiler systems.

- Introduction to different types of boilers.
- Boiler construction details.
- Fittings and there operation.
- Steam plant arrangements, waste heat recovery arrangements and various sub systems.
- Auxiliary boiler plant operation and safety.
- Importance of watch keeping routines
- Lay-up and repair methods
Assessment:
Instructor carries out continuous evaluation and assessment using the engine room simulators.
