TARGET GROUP:

Engineering cadets, Junior Engineers, Deck cadets

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of English (speak, read & write) including maritime terminology
Sea going experience (level and rank depending)

EXIT LEVEL:

Basic knowledge of the components of a ships engine room plant.

ASSESSMENT:

Continuous practical assessment and evaluation

CERTIFICATE:

SAMSA accredited and TETA recognised certificate issued by SAMTRA

VALIDITY:

No expiry date

STCW CODE:

Complies with elements of the STCW Code, Table A-III/1, SAMSA Code: Engineering Knowledge: Module 1 and IMO Model 2.07 – elements of Engine Room Simulator Model Course.

DURATION:

5 days

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

To understand the various components and sub systems found in a ship’s Engine Room and how it all operates in unity, as well as the application of safe working practices in the engineering environment of a ship.
