TARGET GROUP:

 

Senior Engineering Cadets, Junior, Fourth and Third Engineers

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of English (speak, read & write) including maritime terminology
Sea going experience (level and rank depending)

EXIT LEVEL:

Knowledge and understanding of the Engine Room watchkeeping duties.

ASSESSMENT:

Continuous practical assessment and evaluation

CERTIFICATE:

Certificate issued by SAMTRA

VALIDITY:

No expiry date

STCW CODE:

Complies with requirements of the STCW Code Tables A-III/1, SAMSA Code: Engineer Knowledge: Module 1 and IMO Model course 2.07

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

 

  • To acquired a thorough understanding of Engine Room watch keeping procedures, duties and emergency procedures during watchkeeping periods.
  • To train the student in recognising various malfunctions and deviations during watchkeeping periods as well as corrective actions to be taken.
