ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of English (speak, read & write) including maritime terminology, computer knowledge, STCW compliant basic safety / pre-sea courses, Sea going experience on GMDSS vessel

EXIT LEVEL:

Knowledge and skills required for the Global Maritime Distress & Safety System General Operator Certificate

ASSESSMENT:

Written and Practical examinations – SAMSA moderated.

CERTIFICATE:

SAMSA issued GOC certificate, accredited by SAMSA

VALIDITY:

5 Years

STCW CODE:

Section A-IV/2 (Specification for minimum standard of competence for GMDSS radio operators.).
Section B-IV/2 (Guidance regarding training & certification of GMDSS radio
personnel.).

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

For the student to become fully conversant with the Global Maritime Distress & Safety System and it’s sub-systems and to be a competent operator of radio equipment designed for the above, with particular emphasis in radio communications during distress situations.
