Admission level:
Entrants should hold a minimum of certification as ratings forming part of a navigational or engine room watch, as per STCW. Entrants should also be medically fit for sea going duties.

Objective:
To give a general introduction to offshore support vessels, design and scope of work and become familiar with the safety aspects related to these types of vessels.

Duration:
4 Days

Course Content:

  • General layout, design of anchor handling supply vessels.
  • Towing and anchor handling equipment.
  • Chains and fittings, proper handling and inspection of wires, chains and related equipment.
  • Anchor deployment procedures.
  • Discharge and load procedures for cargo operations.
  • Safety aspects related to anchor handling supply vessels.
  • Risk assessment and case studies.

Certification:
SAMTRA certificate.
