Personal Safety and Social Responsibility Refresher

Admission level:
Seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship.

Objective:
To achieve the competencies as described in the STCW and SAMSA Codes respectively.

Duration:
1 Day

Course Content:

  • Survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment
  • Minimize the risk of fire and maintain a state of readiness to respond to emergency situations involving fire.
  • Fight and extinguish fires.
  • Take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency.
  • Comply with emergency procedures.
  • Take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment.
  • Observe safe working practices.
  • Understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties.
  • Contribute to effective human relationships on board ship.

Test:
Continuous assessment & practical evaluation.

Certification:
SAMTRA certificate of attendance.

Course is SAMSA accredited and TETA recognised. Complies with the STCW Code regulations A-VI/1-4; A-VI/1 and A-VI/1-1
NB: Bring along Swimming Costume, Towel and 1 Coverall.
