Technicians, Engineers and Electricians (Junior officers through to Senior Officers)

Objective:
This course covers practical aspects of refrigeration plant operation, servicing and general maintenance. Usage of refrigeration specific service equipment, safe handling of refrigerants and electrical trouble-shooting are all covered in a practical simulator environment.

  • Refrigeration theory
  • Marine refrigerated container components and systems
  • Usage and safe handling of refrigerants
  • Equipment and tools
  • Operation of the refrigeration units
  • Troubleshooting of system and components

Course Outcomes:
Acquire knowledge in the following fields:

  • Systems and components used in refrigeration container units.
  • Refrigerants and associated environmental issues.
  • Competent operation and maintenance of the different refrigeration units through practical exercise in the on-site Refrigeration Simulator Unit.

No. Instructor carries out continuous evaluation and assessment.

SAMSA accredited and TETA recognised. Complies with the requirements of the Merchant Shipping Regulations Code, 1999 and International STCW Code B-III/1.2.
