SAMTRA is pleased to announce that we have resumed training under the new relaxed COVID-19 regulations.

While most of our staff will still work from home until the lockdown has been lifted, we have opened the doors for limited training to resume at SAMTRA.

We have carried out the prescribed risk assessment and introduced a number of health and safety measures to mitigate against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These include the screening of everyone who enters our training facility, provision of hand sanitiser dispensers throughout the facility, regular disinfecting of all work surfaces, limiting student numbers and positioning of desks in our classrooms to ensure adequate social distancing, issuing face masks to all staff and students – and face shields to our instructors and admin staff who interact with students, and posting signage throughout the facility to remind all to adhere to the recommended health and safety guidelines.

Our class of 14 Marine Engineering students are happy to be back in the classroom. They were kept busy with online learning during the lockdown period, so the next couple of weeks will be spent consolidating their online studies and attending classroom lectures to complete the program.

We look forward to welcoming more of our clients back to our facility in Simon’s Town soon.

Stay safe!
